The National Arts Theatre is one of the foremost architecture landmarks in Nigeria. Built and commissioned in 1977 to commemorate the celebration of Black Africation Arts and culture festival, the Federal Government of Nigeria assembled a project team to redesign and restore the key interior areas.
The design solution looked to sensitively restore the centre, drawing inspiration from the original 1970’s aesthetic, high level of craftmanship detail and artistic expression within a contemporary framework without losing the essence of the original spaces. a space for the celebration of heritage and performace, a space for the expression of diversity and richness of the numerous cultures and ethnicities in the country.
